In math, we are continuing our work with place value. We are focusing on composing and decomposing numbers up to 1000, so that the students understand that numbers can be divided in different ways. For example, 410 could be 41 tens or 4 hundreds and 1 ten with our place value blocks. We are using this knowledge to add and subtract 2- and 3-digit numbers. In social studies, we will be taking a look at different holidays around the world and comparing them to our own families’ traditions. In reading, we are studying the differences between fiction and non-fiction texts, and in writing, we are writing opinions that are supported by clear reasons.
